Welcome to Ballimony Cottage

We’re sorry to say that Ballimony Cottage will no longer be available to rent from 30/9 2023.

Ballimony Cottage is a fully renovated traditional property situated within an acre of fenced off ground in a stunning location on the Rhinns of Islay. Set in open countryside the Cottage has uninterrupted views across the island and the sea to the Irish coast. Its tranquil setting provides the perfect base to enjoy the wonderful wildlife, birds and landscape. There are no near neighbours, so the perfect hideaway is assured yet being ideally situated between the villages of Portnahaven and Port charlotte allows access to shops, services, pubs and some of the best food on Islay.

The Cottage can be reached from the ferry terminal at Port Askaig and Port Ellen by heading to Bridgend and taking the turning towards Portnahaven. At Portnahaven turn right at the small church and head out of the village. After a few miles take a right turn towards Octofad and then turn next right through a wall ed dyke. Ballimony Cottage is approached past a ruined farmhouse on your right, down a gentle incline over a gated cattle grid. It is requested you arrived sometime after 3.00pm and depart no later than 10.30 am. The Cottage is generally let on a Sunday to Sunday basis but please get in touch if you require something different. A welcome tray of homemaking and refreshments will be waiting for you on arrival. Finally we welcome well behaved doggy friends at Ballimony Cottage.
